Human Resources Specialist

VitalSmarts is seeking a qualified Human Resources Specialist to be an integral part of the company and work under the direction of our Managing Directors. The HR Specialist is responsible for managing all the day-to-day HR operations for VitalSmarts.

Responsibilities:

  • Employee benefits—communicate regularly with benefit providers and brokers on a variety of issues; assist employees with benefit questions or insurance issues; enroll and terminate employee benefit coverage.
  • Employee relations—communicate HR policies and procedures; recommend practices to promote employee morale and motivation; conduct investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth; draft letters for employee status changes; handle confidential employee personnel files and information.
  • Employment and employee development—provide guidelines and support for the recruiting and hiring process; perform new employee orientation; manage performance evaluation process; provide necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, handbooks, and other similar training programs for employees.
  • Compliance—monitor company compliance with state and federal regulations; protect interest of employees and company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws.
  • HR information systems—maintain employee-related database; prepare periodic reports; maintain personnel files; perform salary comparisons; review monthly benefit bills and coordinate payroll deduction.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with employer sponsored health and benefit programs
  • Experience working in an HR department or with general HR-related issues in a company setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Trustworthy; will not breach confidentiality
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet Explorer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent phone skills and etiquette
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task
  • Proactive work ethic and ability to follow-up with tasks
  • High level of self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • The willingness to do what it takes to get the job done, whether part of one's regular tasks or not
